The Complete Guide to Halloween at Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris knocked it out of the park this Halloween season with their fantastic offerings of music, parades and character meet and greets. There was so much going on that even without rides guests could easily fill an entire Disney day with just seasonal happenings. Here’s what’s happening this fall:

Main Street U.S.A. is draped in orange and black with pumpkins, sunflowers and foliage as far as the eye can see.

Maleficent’s Court

New this year is Maleficent’s bramble patch behind Sleeping Beauty’s castle- glowing green with an eerie fog pouring from its center. Stop by Maleficent’s Court in the afternoons for a villain character-palooza and a spooky introduction from the woman responsible for all this goulish celebration.

Like Main Street, the entrance to Frontierland gets a fantastic make over for fall. Great picture spots can be found from Thunder Mesa Mercantile to Silver Spur Steakhouse.

Seasonal Food

DLP calls it ‘Halloween on a Plate’ available at Au Chalet de la Marionnette, Cafe Hyperion, Pizzeria Bella Notte and The Lucky Nugget Saloon. Since The Lucky Nugget is a table service restaurant, their Halloween selection differs from the three counter service options listed above.

Unfortunately, our 15 euro combo meal from Cafe Hyperion was a disappointment. The red velvet cake was good (not great) but the Halloween themed burger was a mess. What makes it Halloween themed? No idea.

You may be better off grabbing a spooky treat from the Cable Car Bake Shop and making your own Halloween on a Plate. To note: These fun cupcakes and pies are also available at Market House Deli, but the lines there are usually much longer.

Character Meet ‘n’ Greets

When you’ve met all the evil you can handle at the court, there are still tons more themed meet and greets to be found through the park.

Goofy and his bonbon machine will see you near Town Square at Kitty Hawk Bicycle Shop:

Marie, appropriately dressed in orange, from The Aristocats and everyone’s favorite Pooh bear in his Halloween costume find their way over to the area near The Storybook Store.

But perhaps the best character greet we saw all day was Jack and Sally from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack was absolutely phenomenal and a must do for any fan.

Seasonal Musical Entertainment

Disney Octoween Brass Band

Taking place throughout the day by The Hallo-Swing Band and Disney’s Octoween Brass Band. Not to be missed.

Disneyland Horse Drawn Carriage

An added bonus, practically every mode of transportation down Main Street was on offer, from the horse drawn carriage to the omnibus- but be careful of spirits riding along, you never know when a ghost might follow you home.

Guests can find a pumpkin carver outside of Plaza Gardens Restaurant making the most amazing creations. He is so talented and so friendly, really not to be missed. And yes, that big basket to the left in the first photo is full of marshmallows. Enough said.

Halloween Parades

Maleficent’s Villains Promenade is a short but sweet mini-parade featuring one float, but lots of menacing favorites.

They don’t do the trick or treating stops like they have at Disney World, right? I’m thinking of going there next October, but not sure.

No, unfortunately they don’t do the Trick or Treating like at Disney World. Visitors also don’t dress up as hardcore. Overall, Halloween is not as big a deal in France as it is in the States.

That said, Disneyland Paris definitely does a nice job decorating for the season and seems to be adding more and more every year.
